Patients often meet Dr. Prichard seeking only breast augmentation to add volume to their breasts. In many cases, however, patients also require a lift to ensure their breasts are restored to a more youthful position. For such patients, a breast augmentation with lift may be the perfect procedure. This combination procedure offers the best of both worlds--increased breast volume while lifting the breasts. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Prichard offers among the best breast augmentation with lift results.
About the procedure
A breast augmentation with lift is performed as an outpatient procedure. During the surgery, Dr. Prichard uses his unique approach when placing the implant, which is carefully positioned through a small incision, to achieve minimal scarring. After making the incision, Dr. Prichard creates a pocket for the breast implant. Dr. Prichard will use one of the following incisions to efficiently remove any excess skin and breast tissue as part of your breast augmentation with lift surgery:
- Donut incision – This incision encircles the areola
- Vertical or lollipop incision – This incision encircles the areola and runs straight down to the breast crease
- Anchor incision – This incision goes around the areola, down the front of the breast, and horizontally along the breast crease
The donut incision is the least invasive technique. It allows for the preservation of nipple sensation. The incision is done around the areola in a circular shape. This allows for the scarring to be nicely hidden by the darker pigmentation. The donut lift is most suitable for women with smaller cup sizes who suffer from only minor breast ptosis.
This incision circles the areola and runs straight to the breast crease. Like the donut lift, the lollipop lift is a perfect choice for women who wish to retain sensitivity in the breasts and nipples. It also presents minimal scarring.
The anchor incision gets its name due to the shape of the incision resembling an anchor, an incision which goes around the areola, down the front of the breast, and horizontally along the breast crease. Also referred to as the "standard lift", this incision is ideal for women with larger cup sizes. While the standard lift is the traditional breast lift and has been for many years, its downsides include higher visibility of scars, as well as some loss of nipple sensation.
A routine breast augmentation with lift surgery takes a bit longer than if you were to undergo a single procedure. However, your downtime will be shorter than if you were to have them performed separately. Dr. Prichard administers some of the best breast augmentation with lift results.
Breast augmentation with lift surgery uses different types of breast implants, depending upon your desired results. The two most commonly used types of breast implants are saline and silicone.
Saline implants are filled with a salt-water solution, which is sterilized. The main benefit of saline breast implants is the smaller incision required to insert them, smaller than the incision silicone implants require. The saline solution is completely harmless.
Silicone implants' main benefit is their highly natural look and feel. Silicone implants tend to feel more like the real thing than saline implants. However, they generally require a larger incision than saline implants.
Please contact Dr. Pablo Prichard for more information. Choosing the right implant is a highly personalized decision, one which should be made using proper education, a doctor's individualized recommendation and of course, your own aesthetic goals.
During your consultation
Dr. Prichard will walk you through all of the varying options with you--such as breast implants, placement and incision location--to ensure you get the results you wish to receive. It is important that you bring up any questions or concerns you may be having, so that Dr. Prichard can address them appropriately. You should feel confident in your choice. Dr. Prichard aims to deliver some of the top breast augmentation with lift results.
Patients are usually able to return home the same day as their surgery. You can expect your breasts to be a little swollen and bruised for the first week or so, along with a “tight” sensation across the chest area. To assist in the healing process, you will be given a surgical support bra. This is to be worn consistently, for several weeks, unless showering or bathing. It is essential that during the first few weeks you avoid heavy lifting, pulling, or pushing. Typically, patients feel able to return to their daily routine within a week to 10 days. It is suggested that you avoid any strenuous exercise for approximately 4 to 5 weeks, to ensure proper healing.
