Addressing Signs of Aging

Everyone usually wants to put “the best face” on any situation. Yet your face goes through many changes throughout your lifetime. Gaining weight, losing weight, sun exposure without protection, and overall natural signs of aging all change the appearance of your face. Wrinkles and fine lines form, facial volume is lost, and skin sags, leaving you with a droopy and tired appearance. As you notice these changes etched on your face, you may decide you want a more rejuvenated and youthful look.

Facial Rejuvenation Options

You may already be familiar with facelift surgery and how it can provide transformative results, making you look years younger than you actually are. However, facelifts are one of several facial rejuvenation options. Depending on your goals and what facial concerns you want to target—wrinkles, sagging skin, hollow cheeks, etc.—you can find an option that will have you feeling confident in your skin.

Complete Facelift

The complete facelift, also known as the traditional facelift, is a surgical procedure that addresses signs of aging in the lower two-thirds of the face. You may be a good candidate for a facelift if you have smile lines, jowls, and excess skin in the lower face and neck. The surgery is customized for each individual, aiming to restore youthful facial contours without looking unnatural or overdone.

Minimal Scar Facelift

Another surgical facelift option is the minimal scar facelift, sometimes called the short-scar facelift, which tackles signs of aging in the lower areas of the face and neck. This surgery uses smaller incisions and removes less skin than the traditional facelift. However, this could be a good option for patients needing less correction and prioritizing having minimal scarring.

Fat Grafting

If your primary concern is the loss of facial volume, fat grafting may be a desirable option. Facial fat grafting removes unwanted fat from somewhere on your body, cleans it, and then reinjects it into your face in the chosen location.

Injectable Fillers

For people interested in a nonsurgical facial rejuvenation option, injectable fillers are minimally invasive and can add volume to hollow facial areas. Common injection sites are the lips, cheeks, under the eyes, and chin. Injectable fillers can also smooth out wrinkles.

Liposculpture

If you want to remove excess fat on your face, such as a double chin, liposculpture can help. Liposculpture removes excess fat, redefining your facial contours to give you a more sculpted, youthful look.

Cheek Implants

Facial implants, like cheek implants, add volume to droopy and deflated areas. As we age, we lose skin elasticity, which causes the skin to sag and the facial contours to look hollow. Facial implants replenish the lost volume and restore firm, smooth contours to combat this hollowness.

Male Facial Rejuvenation

Cosmetic procedures aren’t just for women; they’re also for men. While the facial rejuvenation options mentioned above also apply to men, it’s important to note that male and female facial procedures differ in their goals and results. Men typically have less fat on their faces and facial hair to factor in. With every cosmetic procedure, Dr. Prichard tailors the techniques used to fit the needs of each patient, customizing the results to best suit each patient’s face.
